Following the public vote on the shortlisted contenders for the WoManchester Statue, Emmeline Pankhurst was announced as the winner of the public vote.
Councillor Andrew Simcock announced the result at the Manchester City Council meeting on Wednesday 20th January 2016. He pointed out that Mrs Pankhurst had polled more than all the other candidates put together and that 5,301 members of the public had voted.
